Our first full summer season was made just that little bit easier by perfect sunny fieldwork weather from May through to October. Our biggest challenges rather than dodging rain, hail or lightning storms, were negotiating around sun-bathers on the beach!

We use a local venue for all our courses, usually the Southwold Arts Centre or the Methodists Hall - both of which are a stones throw from both the town centre and the sea front. This helps us brief students calmly before their fieldwork and enables us to show drone footage, news reports and talk through data methodologies clearly. Practically, these venues can also be useful shelters to sit out passing rain if needs be, fortunately for us and our students, this summer we just soaked up the sun!

Here's hoping the sun keeps shining and the weather gods are kind to us over the winter!
