We've had a great response from schools all across the country since branching out in October and have expanded our tutor team...
We've been quietly delighted with how much interest we've received these last few months and having confirmed plenty of bookings for 2018 we have decided to expand our tutor team.
Joe McKay has joined us to provide additional fieldwork tuition and support on GIS. Joe is also a talented photographer and has helped develop our archive of images, many of which have been used throughout the website. He is also using our drone this winter to capture footage which we use in the classroom sessions of our courses.
Felix Alred has also been recruited to add to our fieldwork tuition team. Felix is also helping to develop our social media and marketing profile and like Joe, is a local resident of the Southwold / Reydon area.
Both appointments fit with one of our initial core aims of providing employment opportunities for local young people. In Southwold, over 50% of homes are now second homes or holiday lets and only 8% of houses are occupied by families - subsequently living and finding employment here can be challenging.
In 2017, the Southwold Coastal Community Team outlined their Economic Plan for the future. Declaring their vision for 'Southwold to be a successful, vibrant and attractive town on the East Anglian Coast, where people want to live, work and visit. To bring together various businesses, commercial and community interests to inspire and guide a co-ordinated approach to creating greater future economic prosperity for the town'.
We are grateful to the support we have received from the Southwold Coastal Community Team which includes Southwold Town Council, Waveney and District Council and a number of local business. We are now delighted to be able to be actively contributing to the local economy whilst also showcasing Southwold to new visitors.
