The Geography Fieldwork Academy provides high quality field courses delivered by actual experienced Geography teachers. We work to create engaging resources that are accessible to all and are more than happy to liaise with you in advance of your trip to ensure we meet your exact requirements. Each of our courses is tailored to the different exam board specification and we are happy to provide sample data collection booklets in advance of your trip. You will also receive a detailed itinerary, risk assessment documentation and if requested, a completed 'provider form'.
We meet you on arrival into Southwold and will lead the fieldwork tuition for the duration of your course both from our classroom base in the centre of the town and out and about around Southwold and on the beach. We welcome your input wherever you would like to chip in! We use a team of lead and support tutors to ensure our larger groups are divided into manageable sizes and most importantly, we plan every single logistical aspect of the fieldtrip from movement between sites, equipment, shelters, toilets and parking.
We are primarily based in Southwold's Old Hospital hub and are proud to be an established and valued part of the community. We support local businesses every day, from sourcing our longshore drift oranges from Matt at Little Gems grocers to our crabbing equipment from Pete and Clare in Chapmans. Teachers and students on our courses benefit from a 15% discount at Southwold's finest gelato and coffee shop, Harris & James and we are able to organise special discounted prices with Marcus Gladwell who runs Southwold's amazing Coastal Voyager jet boat. We work with the mayor and Coral and Lesley at the town council, who have supported us from day one. We share data and stay up-to-date on our dynamic coastline through ongoing dialect with the coastal engineers at East Suffolk Council and Waveney Norse.
